Heart Attack Victim Returns to Work
Refurbished Automatic External Defibrillator from Ardus helps save life on the job

Mr.
Albert Slater was released for full duty and returned to work two months after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest at a project worksite. Thanks to properly trained medical personnel and the presence of an
Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) unit at the job site Mr. Slater was revived and transported to the local hospital.
Albert underwent bypass surgery within a few days of his arrest and has fully recovered just 9 weeks later. He states that attending physicians and nurses on more than one occasion told him that he owed his life to the fact that an AED was present at the jobsite. In addition the doctors have asked Albert if he would like to be part of an advertising campaign to promote the importance of this life saving device and to encourage employers to have them in the workplace.
Upon returning to the jobsite Albert stopped by the Safety Office to gives his thanks to Keith Edwards & Jerry Westbrook for their actions that saved his life. Albert was extremely grateful as you can imagine for their actions and the actions of the other individuals who aided in his rescue.
Seeing Albert up and around and doing so well made every bit of planning and work in setting up the safety program worth while. So many times in safety you can only speculate what you might have prevented. This incident however didn't require speculation, the facts speak for themselves and Albert is living proof that an effective emergency preparedness program works and is worth the effort.
